Probiotic-Enhanced Berry Satsuma Dreamsicle Pudding (Recipe!)
When it comes to staying well even during the height of cold and flu season, probiotics are absolutely key.
Probiotics act as one of our body's first lines of defense against pathogenic invasion. Without the proper balance of friendly bacteria in our gut, our immunity, and therefore our quality of life, suffers greatly.
One of our favorite ways to ensure we get that crucial daily dose is sprinkling a little of our Sunbiotics Vanilla Probiotics Powder with Prebiotics into the blender carafe right before whizzing up a smoothie, or in this case a thicker, fruity-flavored "pudding".
If you haven't yet tried blending citrus with frozen berries and avocado, you're in for a real treat. The consistency is hard to describe. Thick like pudding and ultra-creamy, but with sweet-tart, fruity flavor. Like a delicious fusion of a smoothie bowl and yogurt, only without any dairy whatsoever.
We named this pudding a "dreamsicle" because its combination of satsuma orange with vanilla, along with the creaminess of avocado, definitely lends itself to an orange creamsicle-like flavor experience. This recipe is easy on digestion, and will surely help give your immunity a little boost thanks to plenty of vitamin C, antioxidants, and flavonoids from satsuma oranges and berries, not to mention that solid dose of friendly digestive flora and yacon prebiotics from our Sunbiotics blend. Enjoy!
The Recipe
Probiotic-Enhanced Berry Satsuma Dreamsicle Pudding
Serves 1
Ingredients
3 juicy satsuma oranges, peeled and sliced (you can also use small tangerines - just make sure to de-seed first)
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 Tbs maple syrup
1/3 tsp Sunbiotics Vanilla Probiotics with Prebiotics Powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
1. Place your peeled and diced satsumas in your blender carafe. Putting this ingredient in first will make sure the blades have something juicy to catch onto. This recipe doesn't call for any added liquid, to ensure a thick and creamy consistency, but if your blender is having issues with the blades catching you can always drizzle in a bit of water to help get things started.
2. Add the remaining ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with your choice of toppings. We had fresh pomegranate arils and they were perfect!
