For when you want a thick and creamy smoothie WITHOUT a banana flavor....we've got a perfect sub-in fruit for you: PEAR. This tasty fruit is rich with fiber, vitamins, and JUICE, making it a great addition to smoothies to add bulk and density, similar to a banana, but without the banana flavor. It also makes for a milder, less sweet smoothie which is great for those of us who prefer to keep sugar in check. This smoothie is packed with antioxidants from blueberries and acai, and contains an added adaptogenic, energizing booster from our Maca Matrix, which also adds a subtle malty sweet flavor. Ginger goes so well with the flavors of berry and pear, and it was the perfect addition for just a hint of heat and some extra love for the digestive and immune systems. We used our favorite ancient grains granola here from Purely Elizabeth to top - so good it's a little criminal.
1 cup fresh almond milk - preferably homemade and raw
1/2 frozen acai pack
1 heaped cup frozen blueberries
1 ripe pear - we used a green bartlett
1/2 tsp vanilla extract or 1/4 tsp vanilla bean
1 inch fresh ginger root (carefully slice off the peel)
1/2 tsp Veggimins Maca Matrix
Blend until smooth. Top with plenty of Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grain Granola, or superfood toppings of your choice, and dig into bliss!
